David Durst

David C. Durst (Director of ISU 2009) is Professor of Philosophy at the American University in Bulgaria. He holds a B.A. from Colgate University (United States) and a M.A. and PhD from the Eberhard-Karls University in Tübingen, Germany. He is author of Weimar Modernism. Philosophy, Politics, and Culture in Germany 1918-1933 (Lexington Books, 2004). He has translated and introduced Ernst Jünger's On Pain, published with Telos Press in 2008. Further publications include journal articles in The Germanic Review, Heidegger Studies, Contemporary Political Theory, Continental Philosophy Review and Res Publica, and review-essays and reviews in Political Theory, Philosophische Rundschau, The American Historical Review, and The Review of Politics. His research focuses primarily on 19th and 20th Century continental political thought.
