ECLA, a Liberal Arts University is a German nonprofit company (gGmbH) registered in Beriln and recognized by the Administration for Education and Science of the Berlin Senate (Senatsverwaltung für Erziehung und Wissenschaft)

The Academic Advisory Board

The Academic Advisory Board of ECLA gGmbH is appointed by Bard College and serves at the pleasure of Bard's President. Its primary role is to give academic guidance. Its responsibilities include electing and advising the Deans and assisting in the arrangement of financing for ECLA.

The Bard College Board of Trustees

As a subsidiary of Bard College, ECLA is governed by Bard College's Board of Trustees, which is registered with the Board of Regents of the State of New York and operates under U.S. and New York State law. The Board of Trustees bears fiduciary responsibility for ECLA.

The Bard College Board of Trustees has 32 members.

Academic Leadership

Academic Leadership is exercised by two deans, Peter Hajnal and Thomas Nørgaard, and an Academic Senate.

Faculty in Berlin and at Bard in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY coordinate academic planning, faculty hiring, and evaluation, to ensure that the educational programmes meet the requirements of the Berlin Senate, the State of New York, and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
