James Goodwin

James Goodwin is an Assistant Professor of Russian Studies at the University of Florida (United States), where he teaches courses in Russian literature, language and culture. He received his PhD from the University of Southern California in 2001 for his dissertation on "The Debate over Bakunin and Dostoevsky in Soviet Russia." His research examines Russian prose and criticism of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with particular focus on literary contexts of social and political revolution. His publications include a contribution to the forthcoming collection Violence in Russian Literature and Culture (U Wisconsin Pr, 2007), and an article on "Russian Anarchism and the Bolshevization of Bakunin in the Early Soviet Period" for the journal Kritika: Explorations in Russian and Eurasian History (forthcoming 2007). Hе is currently completing a monograph entitled Dostoevsky's Demons and the Specter of Anarchism in Russian Thought.
